Where to Eat in Wexford Town: 11 Places We Love

Where to Eat in Wexford Town

Wexford Town, nestled along Ireland’s southeastern coast, offers visitors a brilliant blend of history and culinary delights. The medieval streets and narrow lanes hide lots of unique dining spots waiting to be discovered.

Ranging from cozy traditional pubs to modern restaurants, with many serving fresh seafood caught daily from the nearby harbor, there are plenty of choices. The local food scene draws inspiration from both Irish heritage and international influences, creating a diverse dining experience for food lovers.

Here are my personal favourite places to eat in Wexford Town when I’m in the area.

1. The Red Elephant

The Red Elephant

I found this Asian fusion restaurant on Wexford’s waterfront to be a great spot for street food flavors. The menu features a mix of dishes made with quality ingredients that bring authentic Asian tastes to Ireland. I personally like the Pho Bo, closely followed by the Duck Curry.

The restaurant offers a relaxed dining atmosphere where you can enjoy your meal with cocktails, beer, or wine. Their drinks menu has plenty of options to complement the food. If you prefer eating at home, you can order takeaway or delivery through their mobile app. The service is quick and convenient, making it easy to get their food wherever you are.

The setting along Crescent Quay provides nice views while you dine. Their focus on street food favorites sets them apart from other Asian restaurants in the area.

Jasper’s is a pretty stylish restaurant in the heart of Wexford town. The vibrant 75-cap space features modern decor, colorful designs, and a striking mural depicting the three sister goddesses of Ireland.

The menu focuses on local Wexford ingredients prepared by Executive Head Chef Tony Carty. Diners can choose from sharing starters, Irish fillet steaks, fresh fish, and vegan dishes. The restaurant serves brunch, lunch, and dinner with a special “Taste of Jasper’s” menu available on Fridays and Sundays.

The restaurant extends onto pedestrian-friendly Monck Street with outdoor seating that welcomes dogs. After dinner, guests can stay to enjoy craft beers, cocktails, and wines from their extensive drink selection.

3. La Côte Seafood Restaurant

La Côte Seafood Restaurant

La Côte sits along Custom Quay with views of the Irish Sea and Wexford’s mussel trawlers. I found the mix of Irish seafood and modern European cooking styles creates a unique dining experience.

Michelin-trained chef Paul Hynes runs the kitchen while his wife Edwina manages the front of house. Their dedication shows in the restaurant’s numerous awards, including Seafood Restaurant of the Year 2016 and Best Restaurant in Wexford 2018.

The menu changes based on fresh local seafood and produce from trusted farmers and suppliers. The restaurant holds a Michelin Plate award, which marks it as a place for quality food. I normally order Scallops for starter and Lemon Sole for my main, but sometimes I like to mix it up with some pork belly.

4. Vine Restaurant

Vine Restaurant

Vine Restaurant is a really impressive Thai restaurant right in the heart of town. It has been serving authentic Thai cuisine since 2001, led by Executive Chef Raywat Wongprachan from Udan Thanai, Thailand.

The restaurant’s setting in a high-ceilinged neo-classical room creates a striking backdrop for dining. The open kitchen makes it a great place to bring kids or to go on a date so that you can watch the Thai chefs work their magic and smell your dish from across the room.

Some standout dishes include the Duck & Prawn Combo and Spicy Seabass. The menu uses local ingredients combined with traditional Thai elements, and the chefs can adjust dishes for different dietary needs, whether you’re vegan, gluten intolerant, or allergic to nuts.

The restaurant works well for both intimate dates and larger group gatherings. I found the downstairs seating area more comfortable, as the upstairs section can get quite warm during busy times.

7. Rob’s Ranch House

Rob's Ranch House

I love visiting Rob’s Ranch House for their authentic American-style grill dishes. The menu features classic steaks, burgers, and ribs cooked to perfection over an open flame. The rustic ranch-themed decor creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The wooden beams and western artwork transport me to a Texas steakhouse every time I visit.

The portions are generous and the meat is always tender and flavorful. I wish I knew how to make their signature BBQ sauce that adds just the right amount of smokiness to every dish!

I would highly recommend Rob’s Ranch for families and groups of friends as it’s a more relaxed environment, making food sharing easy (not that you’ll want to)! I felt that the prices are quite reasonable for the quality and quantity of food they serve.

Charred Wexford

Sometimes you just fancy a burger and haloumi fries, and when I’m in that sort of mood, I can’t think of anywhere other than Charred! This fast food spot on Selskar Street feels rustic and adds a lot of charm to the local food scene.

The menu features juicy burgers made with locally sourced beef, grilled to perfection. Their signature char-grilled flavor sets them apart from other burger places in town adn I personally get the Iberian Burger and Haloumi Fries. Sometimes I’ll get some Spring Rolls to start with (the diet starts Monday).

10. Copper Chimney

Copper Chimney

I found this gem of a restaurant tucked away near the Wexford quayside. Copper Chimney brings both Indian and Thai cuisine together under one roof, making it a really unique dining spot in Wexford town, offering a flavour profile I hadn’t experienced before.

The menu spans traditional favorites from both South and North Indian cooking. They also serve authentic Thai street food dishes, giving you plenty of exciting options to choose from. Persoanlly, I tend to opt for the Thai Green Curry unless I go for a classic Butter Chicken Masala.

The restaurant creates a cozy atmosphere that works well for both casual meals and special occasions. They keep things interesting with daily specials that feature seasonal ingredients and unique flavor combinations.
